I ran into a rather wierd issue the other day while creating a new Hyper-V server. I tried adding a new guest server and I kept getting a licensing issue. Now I’m using a AVMA license on a Datacenter Hyper-V host so there should be no issues…
I kept getting the following error when trying to install:
We couldn’t verify the product key. Please check your installation media.
Turns out I left the default 512MB of startup RAM instead of the usual 1024MB. This TechNet article gave me the answer I was looking for:
If you create a virtual machine with the minimum supported hardware parameters (1 processor core and 512 MB RAM) and then attempt to install this release on the virtual machine, Setup will fail.
To avoid this, do one of the following:
Allocate more than 800 MB RAM to the virtual machine you intend to install this release on.
I hope that will save you from a headache!
